Getting back on track
In this last blog I talked about enjoying your holidays and breaking the cycle upon your return.
Here I am going to talk about how easy it is to fall off track with your training and what you should do to keep it up and why.
We can all get derailed with summer, the better weather, BBQs, beers in the garden, this happens and is normal for it to happen.
But don't let it impact your training. Plan around that. If you work Monday - Friday and want a pint on a Friday night, then get your sessions in at the start of the week when there are less distractions. Prioritise these session knowing fine well you’ll likely want to overindulge at the weekend.
Another tip is to start the week off with a session. This means that if you do over indulge at the weekend, that you can break the cycle early in the week and get back to a normal week. How many times have you been out on a Saturday and still trying to return to normality by the Wednesday? It happens all the time for me!
Make your sessions and your activity what you take care of first. Make them a date in your diary that you cannot miss. By doing this you'll be able to keep up your gym sessions and enjoy the summer. If not, you'll most likely always be trying to play catch up with your health, feel tired, fatigued and start to be worn out by the fact that you're not prioritising your health and gym sessions.
You absolutely can have the best of both worlds and I recommend anyone reading this to keep up your training.
Training isn't an all or nothing, or something you do when you feel like it, training throughout the summer and the winter will improve your all round health dramatically and I can't recommend keeping your gym session up throughout the summer more.
You will constantly feel fantastic, have loads of energy and enjoy everything that is going on around you. I don't know about you, but when I regularly over indulge I don't feel my best, I feel tired and I don't get the maximum out of my day or my life.
I want you to enjoy the summer by prioritising your health and having fun. That's what life's all about.
